# How do B2B recurring/replenishment orders (distinct from consumer subscriptions) migrate their contract-level scheduling data to Shopify?

## Short answer

Shopify business-to-business (B2B) has no destination object for a recurring replenishment schedule, so the schedule is rebuilt, not migrated. Shopify's developer docs say "B2B doesn't support purchase options, such as subscriptions, pre-orders, and try before you buy" ([shopify.dev](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/b2b), October 2026). Shopify also lists Subscriptions among features that aren't compatible with B2B ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/considerations), October 2026).

- **Purchase options on Shopify B2B:** Not supported. Shopify: B2B doesn't support subscriptions, pre-orders or try before you buy, and Subscriptions is on its list of features incompatible with B2B (October 2026) ([Shopify developer docs, Apps and B2B](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/b2b); [Shopify Help Center, Requirements and considerations for using B2B](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/considerations))
- **Payment terms on every B2B plan:** Net 7 to 90, due on fulfillment, fixed date. Net terms run on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus; fixed-date terms are set on individual draft orders, and payments aren't captured automatically when terms expire (October 2026) ([Shopify Help Center, Shopify B2B features by plan](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/plan-features); [Shopify Help Center, Setting up payment terms in B2B](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/checkout-and-orders/payment-terms))
- **Flow's Scheduled time trigger:** Every 10 minutes to once a year. It repeats in days, weeks or months. Flow has no action that creates a draft order, so a scheduled workflow calls the Admin API or an app does (October 2026) ([Shopify Help Center, Scheduled time](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/triggers/scheduled-time); [Shopify Help Center, Actions in Shopify Flow](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/actions))
- **Standing-order apps for B2B:** $29 a month, or free for one schedule. Orumio Standing Orders and OrderCadence draft a company location's order on a schedule; they launched in August and September 2026 and had no reviews in October 2026 ([Orumio, Orumio Standing Orders on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/standing-orders-for-b2b); [Burmolle Dev, OrderCadence on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/repeat-order))

## Deploi's call

Rebuild business-to-business (B2B) replenishment as scheduled B2B orders, not as subscriptions. The company and location model is the whole reason to be on Shopify B2B, and a consumer subscription contract cannot reference it.

**BUILD: Build the scheduled draft orders when**

- The account buys on payment terms or with a purchase order number, which every Shopify B2B plan supports ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/plan-features), October 2026).
- The cadence repeats by days, weeks or months, the units Flow's Scheduled time trigger offers ([Flow trigger reference](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/triggers/scheduled-time), October 2026).
- A cheaper first test fails: a pilot of Orumio ($29 a month) or OrderCadence (free for one schedule) doesn't fit the account; neither had reviews in October 2026 ([Orumio](https://apps.shopify.com/standing-orders-for-b2b), [OrderCadence](https://apps.shopify.com/repeat-order)).
- Someone owns the small build that creates each draft order, because Flow has no action that does ([Flow's actions list](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/actions), October 2026).
- Negotiated pricing or approvals are how you sell, where [Deploi's draft-order flows record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/draft-orders-custom-flows) scores BUILD (October 2026).

**WAIT: Leave the schedule upstream while**

- An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system already generates the replenishment orders.
- The wholesale channel itself is still launching, so the standing order can follow as a second phase.
- Buyers reorder against stock and budget, not a calendar, so Shopify's easy reorders cover the need ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/plan-features), October 2026).

## Why is there nothing in Shopify to import a B2B replenishment schedule into?

There is nothing in Shopify to import a business-to-business (B2B) replenishment schedule into, because Shopify keeps recurring billing and B2B on separate rails. A consumer subscription is a purchase option: a subscription contract is "the agreement between a customer and a merchant" for recurring purchases ([Shopify's subscriptions guide](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/purchase-options/subscriptions), October 2026). Shopify says "B2B doesn't support purchase options, such as subscriptions, pre-orders, and try before you buy" ([shopify.dev](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/b2b), October 2026). B2B orders run on companies, company locations, catalogs and payment terms instead. So this branch of [migrating an active subscription program](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/migrate-active-subscriptions-during-replatform) produces a rebuild specification, not a field mapping. Developers have hit the wall: a selling plan on a B2B order returned "Only one-time purchase is available for B2B orders" (community-reported, [Shopify Community](https://community.shopify.com/t/wrong-selling-plan-error-only-one-time-purchase-is-available-for-b2b-orders/387594), January 2025). [Whether any app supports company-level recurring orders](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/b2b-subscriptions-company-level-recurring-orders) is answered separately.

## Which Shopify B2B features does a rebuilt replenishment schedule rely on?

A rebuilt replenishment schedule relies on Shopify business-to-business (B2B) payment terms, draft orders and reorders, which run on every B2B plan, and only staged payments need Plus.

**Terms, invoicing and reorders run on every B2B plan; staged payments are Plus-only**

| B2B capability | What it does | Plans |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Payment terms | Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90, or due on fulfillment; a fixed date on individual draft orders | Basic, Grow, Advanced, Plus |
| Draft order to invoice, easy reorders, purchase order (PO) numbers | A draft order for a company location, invoiced to the buyer | Basic, Grow, Advanced, Plus |
| Vaulted card charge when payment is due | Flow charges a saved card on a B2B order with terms; needs Shopify Payments | Basic, Grow, Advanced, Plus |
| Deposits, partial payments, payment requests per fulfillment | Staged payments on one order | Plus only |

Verified October 9, 2026.

> **Shopify's pages disagree on charging a saved B2B card**
> - Shopify's credit card vaulting page says you "can automatically charge vaulted credit cards for orders with payment terms using Shopify Flow" ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/checkout-and-orders/vaulted-cards), October 2026).
> - Shopify's payment terms page says that for a saved card "you must manually capture the payment by charging that credit card in your Shopify admin" ([Shopify's payment terms page](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/checkout-and-orders/payment-terms), October 2026).

So rebuilt orders keep the account's terms, catalog and PO reference, because each is a real B2B order. Test the Flow charge on one account before relying on it.

## Where does the replenishment schedule go instead?

The replenishment schedule goes to one of three places, and each trades something.

1. **Scheduled draft orders, the closest match.** A draft order is created for the company location on each due date, through the draft order application programming interface (API) Shopify documents for business-to-business (B2B) orders ([shopify.dev](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/b2b/draft-orders), October 2026). Flow's Scheduled time trigger repeats by days, weeks or months ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/triggers/scheduled-time), October 2026), but Flow has no action that creates a draft order ([Flow's actions list](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/actions), October 2026). So use Flow's Send Admin API request action, which "can use most mutations" ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-flow/reference/actions/send-admin-api-request)), or a standing-order app. Orumio Standing Orders ($29 a month) and OrderCadence (free for one schedule) draft a company location's order on a schedule; neither had reviews in October 2026 ([Orumio](https://apps.shopify.com/standing-orders-for-b2b), [OrderCadence](https://apps.shopify.com/repeat-order)).
1. **A consumer subscription app on a non-B2B customer record.** It discards the company, the location catalog, net terms and approvals: a downgrade dressed as a migration.
1. **An enterprise resource planning (ERP) schedule.** If the ERP already generates replenishment, push its orders into Shopify instead.

[Deploi's draft-order flows record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/draft-orders-custom-flows) scores a custom flow BUILD once negotiated pricing or approvals are how you sell (October 2026).

## What should you export from the legacy system before cutover?

Export seven fields per schedule from the legacy system before cutover:

1. Cadence
1. Next scheduled date
1. Quantity per line
1. The company and location the schedule belongs to
1. The purchase order reference
1. The payment terms
1. The approver

Only the first three look like subscription data. The last four are what a consumer subscription app drops, so they are what the buyer's finance team asks about first. Shopify also needs every company, location, contact and product in place before a business-to-business (B2B) order imports ([shopify.dev](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/b2b/import-orders), October 2026). [How draft-order and quote data migrates](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/b2b-draft-orders-and-quotes-migration) covers that sequence. Net terms come across as native terms only where Shopify has a match: net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/checkout-and-orders/payment-terms), October 2026).

## When is a consumer subscription app the wrong home for wholesale replenishment?

A consumer subscription app is the wrong home for wholesale replenishment whenever the account buys on terms, because Shopify can't attach a subscription to a business-to-business (B2B) order.

> **When not to do this**
> - **When the account pays on net terms or by purchase order.** A consumer app bills a card on file, so the invoice your buyer's accounts payable team matches against disappears.
> - **When orders need an approver.** A consumer subscription has no company, location or approval chain to route through.
> - **When the price comes from a B2B catalog.** Shopify assigns B2B catalogs to B2B markets, and on Plus directly to companies and company locations ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/getting-started/plan-features), October 2026), so a consumer contract carries a copied price, not the catalog.
> - **When a vendor promises to migrate B2B subscriptions into Shopify.** Ask which customer record the contracts land on, and [how consumer and wholesale subscription migrations differ](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/subscription-migration-dtc-vs-b2b-replenishment).

## Deploi's point of view

**What we've seen.** The purchase order number and the approver are the fields that get dropped, and they are invisible until an invoice arrives that the buyer's accounts payable system cannot match. Cadence is the easy part of a replenishment schedule; the approval context is the part that is load-bearing.

**Where we disagree.** "Recurring order" gets treated as one category by migration tooling. In Shopify's data model consumer subscriptions and B2B reordering are separate systems with no shared object, and a plan that does not name which one it is building is not a plan.

**What this page adds.** that this branch of the migration has no destination object at all (Shopify's own documentation rules purchase options out for B2B), so the correct output is a rebuild specification rather than a field mapping.

## When this answer changes

- Shopify adds purchase options or subscriptions to B2B, or removes Subscriptions from its list of features incompatible with B2B.
- Shopify Flow adds an action that creates draft orders, or changes the Scheduled time trigger's limits.
- Shopify changes which B2B payment features are Plus-only: deposits, partial payments or payment requests per fulfillment.
- A subscription app documents company-level recurring orders on Shopify B2B.
