# Is GemPages actually a good fit for a mid-market Plus store, or is it built mainly for small dropshipping funnels?

## Short answer

GemPages, a Shopify page builder, fits a single-storefront Plus brand, and it is not built mainly for dropshipping: its pricing page pitches the Enterprise plan at "Shopify Plus users" ([GemPages pricing](https://gempages.net/pages/pricing), October 2026). GemPages stops fitting at the second storefront, because its Theme Sections, reusable sections saved per store, can't be copied between Shopify stores ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section), October 2026).

- **Theme Sections across stores:** Can't be copied or transferred. Each store has its own GemPages workspace; page templates export on paid plans, up to 20 at a time, and import as drafts (GemPages Help Center, October 2026) ([GemPages Help Center, GemPages Theme Section & FAQs](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section); [GemPages Help Center, Can I Transfer a GemPages Template to Another Shopify Store?](https://help.gempages.net/articles/transfer-template-to-another-shopify-store))
- **Stores in the Plus platform fee:** Main store plus 9 expansion stores. Each store beyond ten costs $300 USD a month, or a revenue share across all stores (Shopify Plus pricing, October 2026) ([Shopify, Shopify Plus pricing](https://www.shopify.com/plus/pricing))
- **GemPages subscriptions:** One per store. GemPages discounts a second store 10%, rising to 25% from the fifth (GemPages Help Center, October 2026) ([GemPages Help Center, Pricing Plans and FAQs (2026 Updated)](https://help.gempages.net/articles/pricing-plans-and-faqs))
- **Top plan, monthly:** GemPages $199 and Shogun $499 a store; Replo $599 for five. Shogun's Advanced syncs content between stores with one license per store; Replo's Pro lists five Shopify store integrations, then $99 a month per extra store (October 2026) ([GemPages, Pricing](https://gempages.net/pages/pricing); [Shogun, Pricing](https://getshogun.com/pricing); [Replo, Replo Landing Page Builder on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/alchemy))

## Deploi's call

GemPages is a capable single-store product, and "mid-market Plus" often means multi-store, which is where it stops fitting. We would deploy it on a one-storefront Plus brand for campaign pages without hesitation and would not choose it as the section system for a four-storefront group (Deploi position, October 2026).

**BUY: Run GemPages on a Plus store when**

- You sell through one storefront, so store-bound Theme Sections cost you nothing.
- Marketing ships campaign pages faster than a dev queue moves, a profile [Deploi's GemPages vs. Shogun record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/gempages-vs-shogun) scores BUY (October 2026).
- The pages are campaigns and brand stories, not the product page, cart or checkout.

**CUSTOMIZE: Build a shared theme section library when**

- You run expansion stores, because one section library ships with the shared theme to every storefront, which [Deploi's GemPages vs. Shogun record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/gempages-vs-shogun) scores CUSTOMIZE (October 2026).
- You test new themes unpublished before launch, since GemPages Theme Sections work only on the published theme ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section), October 2026).
- A developer can reach the theme, a profile [Deploi's GemPages vs. Theme Sections record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/gempages-vs-theme-sections) scores BUILD (October 2026).

## Is GemPages built mainly for small dropshipping funnels?

GemPages is not built mainly for small dropshipping funnels, though its entry plan is sold to that buyer. GemPages' pricing page pitches Build as "Everything that Online Retail & Dropshipper need to run a Shopify store" and Enterprise as "For scaling businesses or Shopify Plus users" ([GemPages](https://gempages.net/pages/pricing), October 2026). Its advertorial and listicle templates speak to the first buyer. [What GemPages is and how its funnel differs from PageFly and Shogun](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/gempages-vs-pagefly-and-shogun) is covered in its own answer.

GemPages' listing rates it 4.9 stars across about 4,300 reviews, but showed no Built for Shopify badge on 9 October 2026 ([Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/gempages), October 2026). Shopify grants that badge only to apps that keep a storefront's speed loss within 10 performance points ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/apps/finding-choosing-apps), October 2026), so a Plus team should profile its own GemPages pages instead. The sharper objection to GemPages on Plus is structural, and it starts at the second storefront.

## Where does GemPages break on a multi-store Plus setup?

GemPages breaks on a multi-store Plus setup at the section library, because its Theme Sections stay in the store that built them. Shopify Plus includes "Your main store and 9 expansion stores" in the monthly platform fee ([Shopify](https://www.shopify.com/plus/pricing), October 2026); [how Shopify bills stores past those ten](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/plus-expansion-stores-variable-platform-fee) is its own answer. GemPages says "you can't directly copy or transfer Theme Sections between Shopify stores," so a second store rebuilds each section by hand ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section), October 2026).

GemPages page templates travel better. Paid plans export up to 20 templates at a time, and each import lands in Draft status ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/transfer-template-to-another-shopify-store), October 2026). Each store also needs its own GemPages subscription, discounted 10% for a second store and up to 25% from the fifth ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/pricing-plans-and-faqs), October 2026). So a brand with US, Canada, UK and wholesale storefronts keeps four GemPages section libraries in step by hand, and pays four subscriptions.

## Why do GemPages' Instant Landing Pages trouble a Plus team?

GemPages' Instant Landing Pages (ILP) trouble a Plus team because they leave Shopify's admin and most of its app stack behind. ILP pages "will not appear on the Shopify administrative dashboard," and they run on a domain GemPages hosts rather than Shopify ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/introduce-instant-landing-pages-2), October 2026). For a team with legal review, content approval or an annual accessibility audit, a page class missing from admin is a governance gap, because those reviews start from the admin.

App coverage is the second problem. GemPages names only four apps that work on ILP pages and warns that "many apps do not support headless environments" ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/introduce-instant-landing-pages-2), October 2026). A Plus stack with fifteen storefront apps will not carry over, so ILP suits paid-traffic pages that need little more than a product and a form.

## What happens to GemPages content when a Plus brand launches a new theme?

When a Plus brand launches a new theme, GemPages pages move over automatically. GemPages' default templates need republishing, though, and its Theme Sections can't be checked on the unpublished theme. GemPages says "all pages created with GemPages will automatically transfer to the new theme," but "Default GemPages Templates from your previous theme will not transfer automatically and require manual republishing" ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/what-happens-when-i-change-the-theme), October 2026). Until then, the store shows Shopify's default templates.

Staging is the harder limit. GemPages Theme Sections "can only work with your published theme, not the draft version" ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section), October 2026), and GemPages content previewed in an unpublished theme "might not render as expected" ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/what-happens-when-i-change-the-theme), October 2026). So a team that tests each new theme before publishing it can't fully test its GemPages content, and every launch carries a republishing pass. The flow is one-way too: GemPages Theme Sections go into Shopify theme pages, "but not the other way around" ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/theme-section), October 2026).

## What does GemPages' top plan give a Plus brand?

GemPages' top plan gives a Plus brand unlimited Theme Sections and "Priority video call support" for $199 a month, not an implementation team ([GemPages](https://gempages.net/pages/pricing), October 2026). Build includes 20 Theme Sections and Optimize 100, so a library past 100 sections needs Enterprise.

Shogun's top tier, Advanced, costs $499 a month and syncs content across stores, but it "Requires 1 Advanced license per store you'd like to sync to/from" ([Shogun](https://getshogun.com/pricing), October 2026). Replo's Pro costs $599 a month on the App Store, where its plan card lists five Shopify store integrations and then $99 a month for each additional store ([Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/alchemy), October 2026). So GemPages' top tier costs least for one to three storefronts (Deploi arithmetic). From four storefronts, one Replo Pro plan costs less than four GemPages Enterprise subscriptions, about $706 a month after GemPages' multi-store discounts ([GemPages Help Center](https://help.gempages.net/articles/pricing-plans-and-faqs), October 2026; Deploi arithmetic). Shogun sells syncing between stores at more than twice GemPages' price per store.

## When is GemPages the wrong choice for a Plus store?

GemPages is the wrong choice for a Plus store when the store's structure, not its marketing calendar, sets the requirements.

> **When to keep GemPages off a Plus store**
> - **Expansion stores share one section system.** Build a section library into the shared theme instead; [Deploi's GemPages vs. Shogun record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/gempages-vs-shogun) scores a multi-storefront Plus estate CUSTOMIZE for that reason (October 2026).
> - **Regulated or reviewed content.** Every page should be findable in Shopify admin, and GemPages' Instant Landing Pages are not.
> - **Checkout-critical pages.** Keep the product page, cart and checkout off any GemPages surface you can't afford to have break during a theme launch.
> - **Post-purchase offers on wallet-heavy checkouts.** [Which checkouts never see GemPages' post-purchase offers](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/gempages-native-upsells-vs-rebuy) is its own answer.

## Deploi's point of view

**What we've seen.** The Plus brands that regret a page builder are not the ones that picked the wrong builder. They are the ones that let the builder become the section system for the whole site, and then discovered that the section system does not travel to the second storefront or survive a replatform.

**Where we disagree.** The dropshipping objection is usually raised about template aesthetics and answered with template aesthetics. Both sides are arguing about the wrong thing. The real Plus constraints are store-bound section libraries, off-admin page classes and a manual republishing step at theme launch, none of which show up in a template gallery.

**Where we would buy rather than build.** a single-storefront Plus brand whose marketing team ships two campaign pages a week. No custom build competes with that at $59 a month, and we say so in the client meeting.

**What this page adds.** The parent defines GemPages; this page tests it against Plus structure: Theme Sections and subscriptions bound to one store, headless pages missing from admin, a section system that works only on the published theme, and GemPages' own plan copy aimed at dropshippers on Build and Plus users on Enterprise.

## When this answer changes

- GemPages lets Theme Sections copy or sync between stores.
- GemPages Theme Sections start working on unpublished themes.
- Shopify changes the Plus allowance of a main store and 9 expansion stores.
- GemPages shows Instant Landing Pages in Shopify admin, or widens their app list.
- GemPages' listing regains the Built for Shopify badge.
