# If we move our storefront off SuiteCommerce to Shopify but keep NetSuite as the ERP, what integration work actually changes vs. staying on SuiteCommerce?

## Short answer

Moving the storefront off SuiteCommerce to Shopify adds an integration layer that SuiteCommerce never needed, because Shopify keeps its own copies of products, inventory and orders. Celigo's Shopify to NetSuite template ships 32 flows, 29 of them scheduled ([Celigo Help Center](https://docs.celigo.com/hc/en-us/articles/50211021433371), October 2026); Oracle's own connector costs $199.92 to $916.58 a month ([Oracle NetSuite](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite), October 2026).

- **Celigo direct-to-consumer template:** 32 flows, 29 on a schedule. 17 flows run Shopify to NetSuite and 13 NetSuite to Shopify, payouts and returns included; the 3 setup flows run on demand (October 2026). ([Celigo Help Center, Shopify to NetSuite D2C implementation guide](https://docs.celigo.com/hc/en-us/articles/50211021433371))
- **Oracle NetSuite ERP Connector:** $199.92 to $916.58 a month. Billed every 30 days. B2C Standard lists real-time sync as an option, B2C Premium ($249.92) includes it, and the B2B plan adds invoice posting (October 2026). ([Oracle NetSuite, NetSuite ERP Connector on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite))
- **Celigo App Store packages:** $7,800 or $18,900 a year. The Starting Package includes 10 integration flows and Standard Edition 20, with more for purchase, after a 30-day free trial (October 2026). ([Celigo, NetSuite Integration by Celigo on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/celigo-netsuite-smartconnector))
- **SuiteCommerce 2026.1:** Node.js 20.10.0 required. SuiteCommerce and MyAccount update automatically; SuiteCommerce Advanced sites migrate by hand. Oracle lists 2026.2 for a future release (October 2026). ([Oracle NetSuite Help Center, 2026.1.0 Release SC/SCA/SCMA](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_96164226742.html); [Oracle NetSuite Help Center, 2026.1 Release of SuiteCommerce, SuiteCommerce MyAccount, and SuiteCommerce Advanced](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_63163753220.html); [Oracle NetSuite Help Center, NetSuite 2026.2 Release Notes: SuiteCommerce Solutions](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N3945981.html))

## Deploi's call

Leaving SuiteCommerce adds an integration layer, so budget it as the project, not as a line in the storefront project. The storefront is the visible half and, in our judgment, the cheaper half. The sync layer decides whether the migration is judged a success in month six, because that is where stock, orders and money have to agree.

**BUY: Buy the connector layer when**

- Your flows are standard: orders down, inventory and fulfillments back, one NetSuite instance. [Our NetSuite integration record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/netsuite-integration) scores a connector BUY at $10M to $50M (October 2026).
- Stock moves fast enough that a schedule oversells. Oracle's business-to-consumer (B2C) Premium plan includes real-time order and price and quantity sync at $249.92 a month ([Oracle NetSuite](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite), October 2026).
- Business-to-business (B2B) buyers pay on terms. Oracle's B2B plan adds invoice posting at $916.58 a month ([Oracle's listing](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite), October 2026).

**CUSTOMIZE: Add custom glue to the connector when**

- Kits, partial fulfillments or a second third-party logistics (3PL) provider fight the templates, the case [our NetSuite integration record](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/netsuite-integration) scores DEPENDS at $50M to $250M (October 2026).
- Customers need NetSuite-held invoices and statements that Shopify customer accounts don't show.
- You can staff or rent a long-term integration owner, the condition for that record's CUSTOMIZE verdict.

## What changes when Shopify replaces SuiteCommerce in front of NetSuite?

Shopify replacing SuiteCommerce adds a second system of record for commerce, which then has to be kept in agreement with NetSuite. SuiteCommerce ships as a NetSuite SuiteApp ([Oracle NetSuite](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_63163753220.html), October 2026), and Oracle calls it "NetSuite's primary ecommerce shopping solution" ([Oracle NetSuite's MyAccount overview](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/chapter_159786656208.html), October 2026). Shopify keeps its own copies of products, inventory, customers and orders.

So you are not swapping a front end. You are taking on the job of keeping two sources of truth consistent, and every new integration workstream follows from that. This answer assumes NetSuite stays; [whether NetSuite is worth it at $20M to $30M](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/netsuite-overkill-vs-quickbooks-at-20m-30m-gmv) is the question that comes first.

## What goes away when you leave SuiteCommerce?

Leaving SuiteCommerce removes a front-end practice with its own upgrade duties, even though Oracle still releases it. The 2026.1 release covers SuiteCommerce, SuiteCommerce MyAccount and SuiteCommerce Advanced, and "continues to require Node.js version 20.10.0" for the developer tools ([Oracle NetSuite](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_96164226742.html), October 2026). SuiteCommerce and MyAccount update automatically, while a SuiteCommerce Advanced site gets a release only if it migrates by hand ([Oracle's release overview](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_63163753220.html), October 2026). Oracle lists the 2026.2 release for "a future release" ([Oracle's 2026.2 notes](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N3945981.html), October 2026), so leaving is a choice, not a forced migration.

Two more things go with it:

- **Waiting on NetSuite for storefront changes.** Merchandising, theme work and landing pages stop being enterprise resource planning (ERP) projects.
- **A category of performance work.** In our judgment, a storefront rendered from an ERP sits under a ceiling that a dedicated commerce platform does not.

## Which integration workstreams does Shopify add?

Shopify adds seven integration workstreams that SuiteCommerce never needed, because each one moves data between two systems that both hold a copy.

**Seven workstreams Shopify adds when NetSuite stays behind the store**

| New workstream | Why it exists | What it involves |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Catalog sync | Shopify needs its own product records | NetSuite items to products, matrix items to variants, images and metafields |
| Inventory sync | Each system decrements its own stock | Sync cadence, oversell tolerance, mapping per location |
| Order sync | Orders start in Shopify and must land in NetSuite | Sales order or cash sale creation, customer matching, payment mapping |
| Fulfillment sync | NetSuite fulfills, and Shopify tells the customer | Tracking numbers back to Shopify, partial fulfillments |
| Pricing for wholesale buyers | NetSuite price levels are not a Shopify concept | Shopify catalogs and price lists for business-to-business (B2B) buyers |
| Customer self-service | SuiteCommerce's My Account area showed NetSuite account data | Shopify customer accounts show Shopify data; NetSuite history needs a plan |
| Refunds, returns and credit memos | Two systems now hold money records | Mapping refunds to credit memos and deciding which system starts them |

## How fast do connectors keep Shopify and NetSuite in step?

Connectors keep Shopify and NetSuite in step on a schedule, and real-time sync is a priced plan feature rather than the default. Celigo's direct-to-consumer template maps the Shopify and NetSuite sync in 32 flows, 17 from Shopify to NetSuite and 13 back ([Celigo](https://docs.celigo.com/hc/en-us/articles/50211021433371), October 2026). It runs 29 of them on a schedule and 3 setup flows on demand. Oracle's NetSuite Connector costs $199.92 to $916.58 a month ([Oracle NetSuite](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite), October 2026). Its business-to-consumer (B2C) Premium plan, at $249.92, includes real-time order sync and real-time price and quantity sync.

So a stock number on Shopify agrees with NetSuite only as often as the sync runs. That puts three decisions on the business before launch:

- **Oversell tolerance.** On SuiteCommerce a stock number is NetSuite's own; on Shopify it can lag.
- **Buffer stock.** A per-product margin held back from Shopify is the usual fix, and it costs sales on your fastest movers.
- **Which system owns price.** Pick one, because two systems that can both change price is the costliest ambiguity here.

Shopify's GraphQL Admin API (application programming interface) allows 100 to 2,000 cost points a second, by plan ([Shopify developer docs](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/apis/graphql-admin/rate-limits), October 2026), so the sync schedule, not the API, sets how fresh a number is.

## What changes for B2B buyers who used SuiteCommerce?

For business-to-business (B2B) buyers, contract pricing and self-service move out of NetSuite's live records. On SuiteCommerce, wholesale prices came from NetSuite price levels. On Shopify they become catalogs and price lists, which Shopify says Oracle's connector syncs in both directions ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/reports-and-automations/external-integrations), October 2026). That is a data-ownership decision for sales before it is a mapping job, and [how SuiteCommerce bulk-pricing tables translate to Shopify](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/suitecommerce-bulk-pricing-to-b2b-volume-pricing) is its own answer.

Self-service is the second change. SuiteCommerce's My Account area goes with the SuiteCommerce license. Oracle sells SuiteCommerce MyAccount separately: a portal where customers "view recent transactions, pay invoices, and more", with no shopping or checkout ([Oracle NetSuite](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/chapter_159786656208.html), October 2026). Licensing it beside Shopify is an option. NetSuite lists "My Account connected to SuiteCommerce" as unsupported under Multi-Subsidiary Customer ([NetSuite's limitations page](https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_1509460470.html), October 2026), which matters if [one store sells for several subsidiaries](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/netsuite-multiple-subsidiaries-one-store). NetSuite's list doesn't say whether a standalone portal counts, so ask Oracle before you pair one with Multi-Subsidiary Customer. Oracle's connector posts B2B invoices on its $916.58 B2B plan ([Oracle's listing](https://apps.shopify.com/oracle-netsuite), October 2026), and [B2B invoices into NetSuite](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/b2b-net-terms-invoices-quickbooks-netsuite-export) covers that mapping.

## When should you not leave SuiteCommerce?

Don't leave SuiteCommerce when the reason is cosmetic, or when nobody can own the new integration layer.

> **When not to do this**
> - **When SuiteCommerce works and the complaint is aesthetic.** A new theme costs less than an integration layer.
> - **When NetSuite is also being upgraded or re-implemented.** Change one system of record at a time.
> - **When nobody will own the integration after launch.** A 32-flow sync with no owner is an outage on a delay fuse.
> - **When the real goal is leaving NetSuite.** If the destination is a different enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, moving the storefront first builds an integration you plan to throw away.

## Deploi's point of view

**Where we disagree.** SuiteCommerce-to-Shopify content is overwhelmingly written by people selling the storefront build, and it frames NetSuite as "retained", as though retention were free. Retaining NetSuite while moving the storefront is the most integration-heavy configuration available. It is often the right call, and it is never the cheap one.

**What our NetSuite integration decision record doesn't cover.** That record asks whether to build or buy the connector once the decision to connect is made. This page is about what the connection has to carry when the storefront leaves SuiteCommerce, which changes the list of flows and adds the customer self-service and contract-pricing questions the generic case does not have.

**What this page adds.** The parent asks whether NetSuite is worth it at all. This page assumes NetSuite stays and the storefront moves: SuiteCommerce is still released in 2026, so the move is a choice; the published connector templates show the new layer's scope, 32 flows in Celigo's case; and real-time sync is a priced plan feature on Oracle's connector.

## When this answer changes

- Oracle ships SuiteCommerce 2026.2, or changes how SuiteCommerce Advanced sites migrate.
- Oracle changes the NetSuite ERP Connector's plans or which plans include real-time order and inventory sync.
- Celigo changes its Shopify to NetSuite template's flow count, or the flows its packages include.
- Shopify changes how its customer accounts show orders and invoices that live in an outside system.
- Your operation adds kits, a second warehouse or a third-party logistics provider, which moves the record's verdict from BUY toward DEPENDS.
