# What review-and-UGC plugin functionality maps to Yotpo, Okendo, or Judge.me on Shopify, and how do star ratings/photos actually transfer?

Reviewed by Martin Dejnicki, Director of SEO & AI Search · facts verified October 9, 2026 · canonical: https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/review-plugin-mapping-yotpo-okendo-judge-me

## Short answer

Star ratings, review text and dates move into Judge.me, Okendo or Yotpo by comma-separated values (CSV) file, but photos, videos and verified badges do not always follow ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), [Yotpo Support](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo), October 2026). Judge.me verifies an imported review only when its email matches a Shopify order, so badges drop where order history stayed behind. Shopify's own Product Reviews app is no longer available ([Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/product-reviews)).

- **Judge.me verification on import:** Only when the email matches a Shopify order. Applies to Yotpo, Loox and Stamped imports matched through metaobjects; reviews uploaded from a spreadsheet stay unverified (October 2026) ([Judge.me Help Center, Migrating reviews from Yotpo to Judge.me](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me); [Judge.me Help Center, Verified reviews](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/8376284-verified-reviews))
- **Yotpo imported reviews:** Anonymous below Premium; media from Pro. Yotpo's self-serve CSV import, in beta on all plans, takes up to 100,000 reviews at a time; only Premium and Enterprise keep Verified Buyer labels (October 2026) ([Yotpo Support, Importing Reviews to Yotpo (Beta)](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo))
- **Okendo importer:** Auto-detects exports from 10 apps. Yotpo, Judge.me, Loox, Stamped and Shopify are on the list; the import template carries image and video URLs and a verified-buyer column (October 2026) ([Okendo Help Center, Importing Reviews Using the Okendo Import Template](https://intercom.help/okendo-reviews/en/articles/2057320-importing-reviews-using-the-okendo-import-template))
- **Google Shopping ratings on Judge.me:** Unverified imports are excluded. Judge.me's Product Ratings feed, on the Awesome plan, sends imported reviews only when verified through metaobjects and needs 50 eligible reviews (October 2026) ([Judge.me Help Center, Syncing product reviews to Google Shopping](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/13845576-syncing-product-reviews-to-google-shopping))

## Deploi's call

Review and user-generated content (UGC) plugins map to Judge.me, Okendo or Yotpo as a comma-separated values (CSV) file of ratings, text and dates, while photos, videos and verified badges follow each app's own import rules. Reviews are a trust asset with a search footprint, so the migration is a merchandising project with an import step in the middle, not an information technology (IT) task. The acceptance criterion is counts per product on the revenue tail, not "the import finished."

**BUY: Choose the destination by what must survive when**

- Verified badges must carry over: Judge.me re-verifies Yotpo, Loox and Stamped imports against Shopify orders, while Yotpo keeps Verified Buyer labels only on Premium and Enterprise ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/8376284-verified-reviews), [Yotpo Support](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo), October 2026).
- Video reviews are a merchandising asset: Okendo's template takes video URLs, while Judge.me's Yotpo import leaves videos to re-upload by hand ([Okendo Help Center](https://intercom.help/okendo-reviews/en/articles/2057320-importing-reviews-using-the-okendo-import-template), [Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), October 2026).
- Reviews are social proof rather than wholesale syndication, where Deploi's Judge.me vs. Yotpo record picks Judge.me for most mid-market stores ([Deploi Build vs. Buy](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/judge-me-vs-yotpo), October 2026).

**WAIT: Hold the cutover when**

- Order history hasn't reached Shopify, because Judge.me verifies an imported review only against an existing Shopify order ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), October 2026).
- Product handles or SKUs (stock-keeping units) changed in the replatform and nobody owns the mapping table.
- Nobody has counted reviews per product on the legacy plugin, so the import has no acceptance test.

## Is there a native Shopify reviews app to migrate into?

No: Shopify has no native storefront reviews app to migrate into. The listing for Shopify's own Product Reviews app reads "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store. If you have support questions, contact Shopify directly." ([Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/product-reviews), October 2026). Reviews are one layer of [mapping a legacy platform's plugins onto Shopify](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/subscription-integration-mapping-recharge-skio-loop), and on the storefront this layer has no first-party landing spot.

Shopify's own reviews now live in the Shop app. Shop product reviews are "displayed on the product details page in the Shop app", and only Shop customers who bought from you can write one ([Shopify Help Center](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/shop/product-reviews), October 2026). Shop can also display reviews that a partner app collects. So a storefront migration lands in a third-party app or in a custom build on metaobjects, Shopify's custom data records.

## How do star ratings and photos actually transfer?

Star ratings and photos transfer through a comma-separated values (CSV) export, so the destination's importer decides what survives. You export from the legacy plugin, reshape the columns to the destination's template and run its import. Deploi's product reviews record calls app-to-app moves routine but lossy at the edges ([Deploi Build vs. Buy](https://deploi.ca/shopify/build-vs-buy/product-reviews), October 2026), and the edges differ by destination:

**Ratings and text import into all three apps, while videos, verified badges and recognized sources differ by app**

| What transfers | Judge.me | Okendo | Yotpo |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Ratings, text and dates | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Recognized source exports | Guides for Yotpo, Loox, Stamped and Growave; Amazon and Etsy imports | Auto-detects 10 apps, including Yotpo, Judge.me and Shopify | Any CSV mapped to Yotpo's fields, in beta, up to 100,000 reviews per import |
| Photos and videos | Videos not imported by default; re-upload by editing each review | Image and video URL columns | Image and video URLs on Pro, Premium and Enterprise |
| Verified badge | Recomputed: the reviewer's email must match a Shopify order | Set by a verified-buyer column in the file | Premium and Enterprise only; other plans import as Anonymous |

## Which review data needs work after the import?

Three kinds of review data need work after the import, so size each one before the cutover date is agreed:

- **Videos.** On Judge.me, "Since videos are not imported by default, if you have videos in your reviews, after the reviews have been imported, you can edit the reviews to upload your videos" ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), October 2026). If video UGC (user-generated content) is a merchandising asset, that is a manual project.
- **Verified-buyer badges.** Judge.me's rule reads: "For an imported review to be verified via metaobjects, the reviewer's email address must match an existing Shopify order in your store" ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), October 2026). Reviews from customers whose orders didn't migrate land unverified, so a replatform that moved five years of reviews and two years of orders leaves a predictable gap.
- **Product mapping.** Okendo matches reviews by Shopify product ID, handle or SKU (stock-keeping unit) ([Okendo Help Center](https://intercom.help/okendo-reviews/en/articles/2057320-importing-reviews-using-the-okendo-import-template), October 2026), and Yotpo needs the product catalog imported first ([Yotpo Support](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo), October 2026). If the replatform changed handles or SKUs, the table mapping old identifiers to new ones is yours to build.

## What do Judge.me, Okendo and Yotpo cost at mid-market volume?

At mid-market volume Judge.me costs at most $15 a month, Okendo $299 to $499 a month up to 10,000 orders, and Yotpo Pro up to $379 before it turns to a quote. Judge.me caps its price: "$15 per month is the most you can ever pay us" ([Judge.me pricing](https://judge.me/pricing), October 2026). Okendo and Yotpo price by monthly orders.

**Judge.me tops out at $15 a month, while Okendo and Yotpo price by monthly orders and quote their largest plans**

| Plan line (USD a month) | Judge.me | Okendo | Yotpo |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free plan | Unlimited reviews, photos and videos | Up to 50 orders | Up to 50 orders |
| Paid plans | Awesome, $15 | Essential $19 to 200 orders; Growth $119 to 1,500; Power $299 to 3,500 | Starter from $15 and Pro from $119, rising with orders |
| Largest published price | $15 | Advanced $499 to 10,000 orders; Enterprise above 10,000 quoted | Pro tops out at $379, which Yotpo labels up to 4,000 orders a month; Premium and Enterprise quoted above that |
| App Store rating | 5.0 stars, 48,235 reviews | 4.8 stars, 1,430 reviews | 4.8 stars, 4,632 reviews |

Yotpo's Verified Buyer imports also need Premium or Enterprise, so keeping verified badges means a quote ([Yotpo Support](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo), October 2026). Brands already on Klaviyo email have a fourth option, set out in [Klaviyo Reviews' platform gate and pricing](https://deploi.ca/shopify/faq/klaviyo-product-reviews-platform-availability).

## What happens to your star ratings in Google?

Your star ratings in Google search hold through an import, while Google Shopping ratings can shrink. In search results, Google may show stars when it finds valid review or rating markup on the product page ([Google Search Central](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/review-snippet), October 2026). The new app writes that markup from the imported reviews on the same product URLs. So search stars hold if the import is complete and the widget is on the product template before launch.

Google Shopping ratings come from a Product Ratings feed, and there an import can cut your count. Judge.me sends imported Yotpo, Loox and Stamped reviews to that feed only after it has matched them to Shopify orders. Spreadsheet uploads never reach it, and the feed needs 50 eligible reviews ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/13845576-syncing-product-reviews-to-google-shopping), October 2026). In our judgment, the practical control is a before-and-after count of reviews per product on your top 200 revenue products.

## What sequence avoids a visible gap in your reviews?

A five-step sequence avoids a visible gap, because the old widget stays live until the new counts are proven:

1. Export from the legacy plugin and count reviews per product. That file is your acceptance test.
1. Import orders into Shopify before reviews if you move to Judge.me, because its verification matches reviewer emails to Shopify orders ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me), October 2026).
1. Import with the old widget still live. Judge.me suggests files of about 5,000 reviews and warns that re-importing the same file creates duplicates ([Judge.me Help Center](https://judge.me/help/en/articles/10826029-migrating-reviews-from-yotpo-to-judge-me)).
1. Verify counts on the top revenue products, then swap the widget on the product template.
1. Leave the legacy plugin installed but hidden for two weeks, then backfill videos and re-request reviews from recent unverified buyers.

> **When to hold the review migration**
> - **Before order history reaches Shopify.** Judge.me can't verify imported reviews against orders that aren't there.
> - **When handles or SKUs (stock-keeping units) changed and nobody owns the mapping table.** Okendo, for one, matches imported reviews to products by ID, handle or SKU ([Okendo Help Center](https://intercom.help/okendo-reviews/en/articles/2057320-importing-reviews-using-the-okendo-import-template), October 2026).
> - **On Yotpo below Premium, if verified badges on old reviews matter.** Other plans import reviews as Anonymous ([Yotpo Support](https://support.yotpo.com/docs/importing-reviews-to-yotpo), October 2026).

## Deploi's point of view

**What we've seen.** Unverified-badge loss is the complaint that arrives after launch, from merchandising rather than engineering, and it traces back to order history that was never in scope.

**Where we disagree.** The category sells review migration as lossless. On Judge.me, video is not imported by default and verification is recomputed against your Shopify orders; on Yotpo below Premium, imported reviews arrive as Anonymous. Some loss is structural and worth planning around rather than promising away.

**What this page adds.** That Shopify has no native storefront reviews app to map to, and exactly how Judge.me, Okendo and Yotpo treat photos, videos and verified badges on import as of October 2026.

## When this answer changes

- Judge.me changes which imported reviews it verifies or sends to its Google Product Ratings feed.
- Yotpo takes its CSV import out of beta or opens Verified Buyer imports below Premium.
- Judge.me, Okendo or Yotpo changes plan prices or order allowances.
- Google stops accepting XML Product Ratings feeds after 15 January 2027, per Judge.me, so check which feed your reviews app uses.
- Shopify launches storefront reviews beyond Shop product reviews.
