From Coffee to Milk: A Generative AI Video Fail

Martin Dejnicki

Generative AI is fascinating, but it doesn’t always get things right. Recently, I tried an experiment using an image of coffee spilling out of a mug. My prompt? Put the coffee back into the mug, tilt it, and spill out milk instead. Sounds simple, right?

Well, not exactly. Instead of the smooth, dynamic transformation I envisioned, I ended up with a video of milk just dropping onto the mug—no coffee rewind, no tilting, no satisfying spill. It was a clear miss.

But that’s the fun of working with AI! While it’s not perfect, it’s a learning process. Sometimes the results are surprising, other times they’re a bit of a fail. Either way, it’s all part of exploring the limits of AI’s creative potential.
