Short answer
For seven Shopify business metrics, the first period in which Shopify stated a figure in quarterly results, the last period if it stopped, the current status as of the Q2 2026 results and the number of fiscal years with at least one disclosure. Deploi read Shopify's quarterly results archive from 2015 to Q2 2026: press releases, financial supplementals and Forms 6-K, 10-Q and 10-K, plus annual information forms.
Three of the seven Shopify metrics tracked here are no longer published, each after 7 or 8 fiscal years
Periods covered by each metric in Shopify's results and filings, from the first quarter stated to the last period stated or the Q2 2026 results; purple metrics are no longer reported
- Each bar runs from the first day of the first quarter stated to the last day of the last quarter or fiscal year stated; Shopify's fiscal year ends December 31.
- Bars for metrics still reported end on June 30, 2026, the last day of Q2 2026, the latest results read.
- Years reported counts fiscal years with at least one disclosure of the metric.
- Gross payments volume and the Shopify Payments penetration rate left the quarterly press release after Q2 2024 and are still reported in Shopify's filings: the Form 6-K for Q3 2024, each Form 10-Q from Q1 2025 and each Form 10-K, so they count as reported.
- Merchant counts and Shopify Plus merchant counts last appeared in the annual information form for fiscal 2021; later filings say "millions of merchants".
- Read from Shopify's quarterly results archive from 2015 to Q2 2026; six quarters have no press release in the archive, so their filings were read instead.

About this dataset

Deploi read Shopify's quarterly results archive from 2015 to Q2 2026: press releases, financial supplementals and Forms 6-K, 10-Q and 10-K, plus annual information forms. The dataset holds no metric values.

Methodology
Caveats: Shopify metrics by first and last period reported
- The start of each metric is the first quarterly results. Shopify's May 2015 IPO prospectus already presented merchant, GMV and MRR figures for earlier periods.
- Gross payments volume and the Shopify Payments penetration rate left the quarterly press release after Q2 2024 and are still reported in Shopify's filings: the Form 6-K for Q3 2024, each Form 10-Q from Q1 2025 and each Form 10-K, so they count as reported.
- Merchant counts and Shopify Plus merchant counts last appeared in the annual information form for fiscal 2021. Later filings say "millions of merchants".
- Read from Shopify's quarterly results archive (press releases, financial supplementals, Forms 6-K, 10-Q and 10-K) from 2015 to Q2 2026. Six quarters have no press release in the archive, so their filings were read instead.
- Years reported counts fiscal years with at least one disclosure, including fiscal 2026 for metrics still reported at Q2 2026. It is computed by Deploi.
