AI Apps

Are there AI apps specifically built for B2B/wholesale merchandising, or is that still an underserved category on Shopify?

Short answer

AI merchandising for Shopify business-to-business (B2B) stores is still underserved. The wholesale AI apps we found are 2026 reorder tools with no reviews yet, such as B2BOptix at $49 a month (B2BOptix listing, October 2026). Shopify B2B merchandises through catalogs instead, so start there: up to 3 active below Plus, unlimited on Plus (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).

Deploi’s call

AI apps built for business-to-business (B2B) merchandising on Shopify are still few and unproven, so stop shopping for them and build the reorder rail, a row of each account's usual products at its own prices. The commercial value a wholesale buyer is asking for is "show me what I ordered last time, at my price, in one click." Shopify's Buy again, quick order lists and that reorder rail deliver it without a model.

BuildBuild the reorder rail when

  • Buyers reorder weekly from long order lists; Deploi's quick order form record scores a custom form with reorder from history BUILD (October 2026).
  • Each company needs its own suggestions, so the rail reads that company's order history and catalog prices.
  • You need ranking per company, and Shopify shows each collection "in the sort order that you set" to every buyer (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).

WaitWait on AI merchandising apps for wholesale while

  • The AI reorder apps built for Shopify B2B have no reviews yet (B2BOptix listing, October 2026).
  • Buy again and the quick order list cover your reorders; Deploi's B2B apps record says adopt native B2B first (October 2026).
  • No vendor can name a reference store running Shopify B2B catalogs.

Basis: Should You Build or Buy a B2B Quick Order Form on Shopify?, our Build vs. Buy decision record, scored BUILD.

Why is AI merchandising for B2B still a thin category?

AI merchandising for business-to-business (B2B) stores is a thin category because wholesale breaks the assumptions a direct-to-consumer (DTC) model learns from. A DTC discovery platform learns from anonymous sessions against one public catalog. Every shopper sees the same assortment at the same price, so co-purchase patterns pool. The three machines sold as merchandising AI all assume that pooled catalog.

Shopify B2B breaks it. "B2B catalogs determine the products and pricing your B2B customers can access," and when several apply, "the lowest price displays to the customer" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). The buyer is a named account with terms, not a session. The behavior to model is reordering against stock and budget cycles, which is not what DTC recommendation models are built for.

So the shortage is structural: the unit of merchandising stops being the storefront and starts being the account.

Which AI apps are built for Shopify B2B today?

The AI apps we found built for Shopify business-to-business (B2B) stores are reorder tools launched in 2026, and none had a review in October 2026. B2BOptix says it "Supports Shopify B2B with company and location-based filtering" (B2BOptix listing, October 2026). Repeatly says it "Supports native Shopify B2B companies and price lists" (Repeatly listing, October 2026).

What does Shopify warn about third-party apps on B2B?

Shopify warns that some third-party apps do not work with business-to-business (B2B) selling and tells you to ask the developer. Its requirements page lists these features as incompatible with B2B (Shopify Help Center, October 2026):

  • Accelerated checkouts, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Amazon Pay
  • Local delivery, pickup points and tipping options
  • Subscriptions and legacy customer accounts
  • Agentic storefronts
  • "Some third-party apps (contact app developer directly)"
  • Checkout customizations made to the checkout.liquid file

The third-party apps line is the one to take seriously in a merchandising evaluation, because Shopify leaves an app's B2B compatibility to its developer. Some general discovery apps now list B2B support: Boost AI Search & Filter lists "B2B Wholesale Product & Real time Sync" on its Accelerate plan, from $699 a month (Boost Commerce listing, October 2026). Treat that as the developer's written answer, then ask for a reference store running Shopify B2B catalogs before the app goes on your shortlist.

What does Shopify's native B2B toolkit give you instead?

Shopify's native business-to-business (B2B) toolkit gives you curation, offers and reorders without a model, and most of it runs on every plan from Basic up.

Shopify's native B2B toolkit covers curation, offers and reorders on every plan, with direct company catalogs and deposits on Plus only

Read the toolkit as merchandising, because catalogs curate, price breaks make the offer, and the quick order list plus Buy again are the reorder rail. Count each price tier once per currency you price by hand: at a fourth catalog, the 3-catalog limit binds.

Where does an honest gap remain?

An honest gap remains in two places Shopify's native business-to-business (B2B) toolkit does not reach: ranking products differently for each company, and suggesting what an account is due to reorder. A collection shows its products "in the sort order that you set," one order for every buyer (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). Buy again lets a wholesale customer "duplicate past orders" from order history (Shopify Changelog, January 2023), but it does not suggest anything.

In our judgment, both gaps can be built from each company's own order history and catalog prices, so a reorder rail needs no model. Deploi's quick order form record scores a custom form with reorder from history BUILD (October 2026). The 2026 reorder apps aim at the same gap, but with no reviews yet they are pilots, not purchases.

Deploi’s point of view

Our own position, from building on Shopify. Kept apart from the sourced facts above.

What we’ve seen
B2B merchandising requirements almost always arrive translated from a DTC vocabulary. "We want personalization" turns out to mean a per-account reorder list; "we want recommendations" turns out to mean the three SKUs the rep always adds to the order. Retranslate the requirement before scoping, because the DTC version costs a platform fee and the B2B version is a build on Shopify's own B2B features.
Where we disagree
Vendor B2B pages imply their DTC engine simply extends to wholesale. Shopify's own compatibility note points the other way, and the catalog model is the reason. Ask for a reference customer running per-company catalogs on Shopify B2B, and treat a missing reference as the answer.
What this page adds
The parent maps merchandising AI for direct-to-consumer stores. This page shows why the business-to-business category is thin, names the 2026 reorder apps with their review counts, and lists the native B2B features that replace the requirement.

When this answer changes

  • B2BOptix, Repeatly or another wholesale AI app collects reviews from stores running Shopify B2B.
  • Shopify adds reorder suggestions or per-company ranking to native B2B.
  • Shopify opens direct company catalogs below Plus, or changes the 3-catalog limit.
  • Shopify removes third-party apps from its list of features incompatible with B2B.
  • A discovery app such as Nosto, Athos, Rebuy or Boost publishes a reference store running Shopify B2B catalogs.
