Is Klaviyo's product-review feature actually gated to Shopify and Shopify Plus only, or does it work on any ecommerce platform?
Short answer
Klaviyo Reviews is not gated to Shopify Plus, because Klaviyo gates it by ecommerce platform: Shopify and WooCommerce, with no Shopify plan named. Klaviyo requires a paid Klaviyo Email plan (Klaviyo's product page, October 2026). Reviews bills separately on monthly orders: free to 50 on its App Store listing, then $25 a month to 250 (Shopify App Store, October 2026).

Deploi’s call
Klaviyo Reviews is platform-gated, not plan-gated. The question to ask is not "am I on Plus" but "is every storefront I need reviews on either Shopify or WooCommerce." If the answer is no, this is the wrong product for a portfolio, regardless of how good the Klaviyo integration is on the Shopify store.
BuyUse Klaviyo Reviews when
- Every storefront that needs reviews runs on Shopify, headless Shopify included, or WooCommerce (Klaviyo Help Center and Klaviyo's headless install guide, October 2026).
- You already pay for Klaviyo Email, which Klaviyo requires for Reviews (Klaviyo, October 2026).
- You want review events inside Klaviyo flows, such as a thank-you after five stars or a support ticket after three (Klaviyo, October 2026).
- Klaviyo Reviews' order-based price beats Judge.me, Okendo or Yotpo at your own review-eligible order volume.
- You will own the review data layer above roughly $15M, as Deploi's product reviews record advises (Deploi Build vs. Buy, October 2026). Klaviyo's Reviews application programming interface (API) exports reviews for that, though Klaviyo says it cannot directly power an onsite reviews widget (Klaviyo developer docs, October 2026).
BuyChoose a platform-neutral reviews app when
- Any storefront in the portfolio runs on another commerce platform, such as BigCommerce or Adobe Commerce.
- You want one set of reviews across more than 10 storefronts, the most Klaviyo's multi-store syndication links (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026).
- You need reviews syndicated to retail partners, beyond the Google Shopping, Shopify, Shop app and Meta stores Klaviyo lists (Klaviyo, October 2026).

Is Klaviyo Reviews limited to Shopify Plus?
No: Klaviyo Reviews is gated by ecommerce platform, not by Shopify plan. The Klaviyo, Omnisend and Attentive comparison names the gate, and Klaviyo's own pages define it:
| Gate | What Klaviyo states | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Ecommerce platform | "Klaviyo Reviews is available for Shopify and WooCommerce stores" | Real gate: headless Shopify stores are in, other commerce platforms are out |
| Shopify plan | No Shopify plan named on the product page, getting-started guide or billing guide | Not a gate in Klaviyo's documentation |
| Klaviyo plan | "you must be a paid Klaviyo Email customer to use Klaviyo Reviews" | Real gate: a free Klaviyo account cannot add Reviews |
| Billing | Billed separately from email and SMS (text message) plans, on monthly orders | A separate line item, priced on orders rather than profiles |
Headless counts as Shopify, because Klaviyo documents installing Reviews on a headless Shopify store with its JavaScript snippet, Klaviyo.js, and widget code (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026). So a Shopify Basic store and a headless Shopify Plus store face the same gate.
Which storefronts does Klaviyo Reviews leave out?
Klaviyo Reviews leaves out every storefront that does not run on Shopify or WooCommerce: Klaviyo's billing guide says Reviews "is only available for Shopify and WooCommerce stores" (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026). That puts BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and custom commerce backends outside it.
The platform gate bites on a mixed portfolio. Inside Shopify and WooCommerce, one set of reviews can span stores. Klaviyo's multi-store syndication shares reviews both ways across up to 10 Klaviyo accounts. Those accounts must all belong to one Klaviyo portfolio, Klaviyo's grouping of related accounts, and reviews match between stores by stock-keeping unit (SKU) codes (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026). But if the main store runs on Shopify Plus and a regional or business-to-business (B2B) site runs elsewhere, Klaviyo Reviews covers the Shopify store and not the other one. The choice is then two review platforms with two review corpora, or one platform-neutral reviews app across both. Shopify offers no native fallback. Its Product Reviews listing says "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store" (Shopify App Store, October 2026), and Shop product reviews display in the Shop app (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
Make that call before reviews accumulate, because moving reviews between apps costs videos and verified badges.
How is Klaviyo Reviews priced compared with Klaviyo email?
Klaviyo Reviews is priced on review-eligible orders, while Klaviyo email is priced on active profiles (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026). Klaviyo counts an order when its "Ready to review" event fires, a set number of days after fulfillment or delivery. An order stays off the bill when the order, its customer or every product in it carries the klaviyo_reviews_exclude tag, so gift-card-only orders need not count (Klaviyo Help Center, October 2026).
The two meters move independently. A brand with a large list and modest order volume pays a lot for email and little for Reviews; a brand with a small list and heavy repeat orders pays the reverse. So do not estimate the Reviews line by scaling the email line. When a plan's orders run out, review requests pause for that billing cycle (Klaviyo, October 2026).
When is Klaviyo Reviews the wrong choice?
Klaviyo Reviews is the wrong choice when an existing review corpus or the total bill matters more than having reviews inside Klaviyo.
Deploi’s point of view
Our own position, from building on Shopify. Kept apart from the sourced facts above.
- What we’ve seen
- Reviews consolidation gets approved on the strength of "it's already in Klaviyo" and unwinds when the second storefront turns out to be out of scope. The check takes two minutes, and it is too often skipped before the decision.
- Where we disagree
- Klaviyo Reviews is usually evaluated as a feature of Klaviyo. It is a separately billed product with its own pricing basis, orders rather than profiles, and its own platform support list. Evaluate it against Okendo, Yotpo or Judge.me on its own merits, not as a bundle discount, and note that Shopify's own Product Reviews app is no longer on the Shopify App Store, while Shop product reviews display in the Shop app, so "just use the native one" does not cover your storefront.
- What this page adds
- The parent says Klaviyo Reviews is gated by platform, not plan. This page gives the exact gates (Shopify, headless Shopify and WooCommerce; a paid Klaviyo Email plan), the order-based billing unit and the tag that keeps orders off it, the free-tier tension between Klaviyo's two price pages, and where a portfolio outgrows it: a storefront off Shopify and WooCommerce, or more than 10 stores sharing one set of reviews.

This follows from Klaviyo vs Omnisend vs Attentive: which is the right email-and-SMS stack for a $20M-$100M Shopify Plus brand?
- What review-and-UGC plugin functionality maps to Yotpo, Okendo, or Judge.me on Shopify, and how do star ratings/photos actually transfer?
Star ratings, review text and dates move into Judge.me, Okendo or Yotpo by comma-separated values (CSV) file, but photos, videos and verified badges do not always follow (Judge.me Help Center, Yotpo Support, October 2026).
- Is consolidating multiple point-solution apps (email, SMS, reviews, loyalty separately) into fewer platforms with bundled pricing a genuine cost-optimization lever for a mid-market store?
Consolidating point-solution apps is an operations lever at mid-market, not a cost lever, because each channel stays metered.
- Does switching from Klaviyo to a Shopify-native-only email tool make sense once a brand hits Shopify Plus, or does Klaviyo stay worth it?
Klaviyo stays worth it for a Shopify Plus brand whose top flows run on data Shopify does not hold, such as reviews or loyalty.
