Do SuiteCommerce's bulk-pricing tables (common in B2B/wholesale setups) migrate to Shopify B2B's volume-pricing rules, or do they need rebuilding?
Short answer
SuiteCommerce bulk-pricing tables need rebuilding on Shopify business-to-business (B2B). Shopify allows up to 10 price breaks per product (Shopify Help Center, October 2026), while an Oracle NetSuite quantity pricing schedule allows 4 non-zero quantity levels (Oracle NetSuite Help Center, October 2026). The tiers fit; two of NetSuite's four ways of counting quantity don't, because Shopify counts each variant separately.

Deploi’s call
The tier numbers port. The pricing logic does not, and the gap is a commercial decision rather than a technical one. Get the wholesale margin owner to sign off on the repriced sample before an engineer builds anything, because this is the mapping that changes what customers are charged.
CustomizeLoad the tiers as Shopify price breaks when
- Every NetSuite schedule counts by line or item quantity, which Shopify's per-variant breaks match (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
- No schedule uses marginal rates, or whoever owns wholesale margin has signed off the repriced sample.
- List prices change rarely, because volume pricing fixes each product's price and the catalog adjustment stops applying (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
DependsSettle the new offer before loading when
- A schedule counts parent or schedule quantity, so buyers earn tiers on assortments that price breaks never see.
- An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system masters thousands of contract prices, which our catalogs and price lists record scores CUSTOMIZE: generate catalogs from the price master (October 2026).
- Price levels outnumber the catalogs one account can carry, which our 30-plus price tiers record scores DEPENDS: collapse the tiers or split the account across company locations (October 2026).

Does Shopify's volume pricing hold as many tiers as a NetSuite schedule?
Yes: Shopify's volume pricing holds more tiers than an Oracle NetSuite quantity pricing schedule, so tier count is the wrong worry when you collapse segment catalogs into Shopify's 3-catalog limit. Shopify lets you "add up to 10 price breaks per product which are applied to each variant" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). NetSuite's schedule page says "You can only have 4 non-zero quantity levels" (Oracle NetSuite Help Center, October 2026). Quantity rules and quantity price breaks run on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus (Shopify Help Center, October 2026), so the tiers need no plan change.
SuiteCommerce, NetSuite's ecommerce platform, applies NetSuite's quantity pricing. Its developer guide names two nuances: how discounts are calculated, "either absolutely or marginally", and how quantities are counted (SuiteCommerce developer docs, October 2026). Those two settings, not the tier count, decide what migrates.
Which NetSuite quantity bases does Shopify's volume pricing match?
Shopify's volume pricing matches two of NetSuite's four quantity bases, because Shopify counts quantity per variant. A NetSuite schedule's Calculate Quantity Discounts field sets the basis (Oracle NetSuite Help Center, October 2026).
| NetSuite basis | What NetSuite counts | Shopify volume pricing |
|---|---|---|
| By Line Quantity | The quantity on one line | Matches |
| By Overall Item Quantity | All lines for the same item | Matches, per variant in the order |
| By Overall Parent Quantity | All items under one parent, such as matrix items | No match |
| By Overall Schedule Quantity | All items that use the same schedule | No match |
Shopify says "Customers need to meet the required quantity for each variant to qualify for the price break" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). So a buyer who earns a NetSuite tier with 500 units spread across a schedule earns no Shopify price break unless 500 of one variant are in the cart.
What can stand in for a tier that counts across items?
A Shopify discount is the nearest native stand-in for a tier that counts across items, and it is a different commercial offer. Shopify turns discounts on for business-to-business (B2B) buyers by default, and a B2B market in a discount's eligibility settings limits it to those buyers (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). An amount off discount can require a minimum quantity of items, and when it applies to specific products or a collection, "only these items contribute to the minimum quantity amount" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
Discounts "apply as additional discounts on top of any price adjustments that you make using catalogs" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026), so they stack on the buyer's catalog price rather than replace it. That makes an assortment tier a commercial decision: someone on the business side sets the new offer before anybody writes a mapping.
Will the same tier table bill the same invoice total on Shopify?
The same tier table bills a different invoice total on Shopify when the NetSuite schedule uses marginal rates. NetSuite's Use Marginal Rates box applies "quantity discounts to each pricing bracket separately". In NetSuite's own example, the first 100 items sell at the normal price and the next 50 at a 5% discount (Oracle NetSuite Help Center, October 2026). Shopify defines a break's price as the variant's price "after reaching the minimum" quantity (Shopify developer docs, October 2026), so every unit of that variant takes the break price.
At a $10 list price, NetSuite's example bills $1,475 for 150 units, while Shopify bills $1,425 for the same tiers (Deploi arithmetic on NetSuite's example). The gap opens at each threshold and stays fixed above the top one, so reprice a sample of last year's real orders both ways before you commit. A NetSuite schedule with the box cleared applies the discount "to all items sold", which Shopify matches.
In what order should the tables move?
Move SuiteCommerce's tier tables to Shopify in six steps, with the commercial decisions before any loading:
- Export each NetSuite schedule with its settings, not just its tiers: the quantity basis and whether Use Marginal Rates is checked.
- Sort schedules by basis. Line and item schedules port; parent and schedule bases need a commercial decision first, and that decision takes longest.
- Reprice a sample of historical orders under the Shopify model, and show the invoice delta to whoever owns wholesale margin.
- Collapse price levels into catalogs. SuiteCommerce allows "up to 1,000 price levels" (SuiteCommerce developer docs, October 2026), against 3 active catalogs below Shopify Plus (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
- Load the breaks. Catalog comma-separated values (CSV) imports carry quantity rules and volume pricing (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). Through the application programming interface (API),
quantityPricingByVariantUpdatesets fixed prices, quantity rules and price breaks in one operation (Shopify developer docs, October 2026). Volume pricing then fixes each product's price (Shopify Help Center, October 2026), so plan list-price changes as re-imports. - Reconcile. Re-export from Shopify and diff against the source, because a pricing migration signed off on spot checks gets discovered by a customer.
When should the tables not move as they are?
SuiteCommerce's tier tables should not move to Shopify as they are when a NetSuite schedule's basis, rates or purpose won't survive Shopify's model.
Deploi’s point of view
Our own position, from building on Shopify. Kept apart from the sourced facts above.
- Where we disagree
- Migration guides answer this question with a field map, which implies the job is translation. For two of the four NetSuite calculation bases there is no target field, so there is nothing to translate. Presenting this as a mapping task is how a repricing decision ends up being made by whoever writes the import script.
- What we look for first (our judgment)
- Assortment-based volume discounting is easy to miss in NetSuite-to-Shopify wholesale requirements. On the source platform it is one field on the schedule, and a field does not read like a feature, so we ask for every schedule's settings before we scope the pricing work.
- What this page adds
- The parent counts price structures against the 3-catalog cap. This page adds that Shopify's 10 price breaks per product outnumber NetSuite's 4 quantity levels, that Shopify counts each variant separately so two of NetSuite's four quantity bases have no volume-pricing equivalent, that marginal rates bill a different total from the same tier table, and that volume pricing fixes each product's price.
Decision records behind this answer
When this answer changes
- Shopify lets price breaks count quantity across variants, products or collections.
- Shopify adds graduated, marginal-rate price breaks to volume pricing.
- Shopify raises the 10 price breaks per product, or stops volume pricing from fixing a product's price.
- Oracle changes NetSuite's 4 non-zero quantity levels per schedule or its four quantity bases.
- Shopify changes the 250-price limit per priceListFixedPricesAdd request.
