What is GemPages, and how is it different from a plain page builder like PageFly or Shogun?
Short answer
GemPages is a Shopify drag-and-drop page builder that adds two things PageFly and Shogun do not sell: upsell offers between payment and the thank-you page (GemPages Help Center, October 2026) and a landing page hosted outside Shopify (GemPages Help Center, October 2026). Its Optimize plan charges $10 for every incremental $1,000 of monthly upsell revenue past the first $1,000, so the funnel's cost grows with its sales.

Deploi’s call
We have scored GemPages head to head four ways: BUILD against PageFly, Replo and theme sections, BUY against Shogun. The differences between these builders matter far less than their shared cost, which is pages that live in the builder and rebuild by hand at exit. GemPages documents that cost plainly, down to what happens to live pages when its code comes out, which is a point in its favour, not against it (Deploi verdicts, October 2026).
BuyBuy GemPages when
- No developer can reach your theme, a profile Deploi's GemPages vs. Theme Sections record scores BUY (October 2026).
- Your funnel ends in a post-purchase offer that GemPages can run without a second app.
- Your calendar is template-led campaigns; Deploi's GemPages vs. Replo record gives GemPages that lane and Replo the high-tempo testing lane (October 2026).
BuildBuild a theme section library instead when
- A developer or agency can reach your theme; Deploi's GemPages vs. Theme Sections record scores that profile BUILD, because the pages then live in the theme you own (October 2026).
- You run more than one storefront, because GemPages Theme Sections stay in the store that built them.
- You already run 50 or more live GemPages pages, which Deploi's GemPages vs. Theme Sections record also scores BUILD, because the exit bill grows each month (October 2026).

What is GemPages, and what does it share with PageFly and Shogun?
GemPages is a Shopify page builder, and it shares its core job with PageFly and Shogun: building pages "by drag & drop without coding" (Shopify App Store, October 2026). For a marketing team's day-to-day pages, the three are interchangeable. Where GemPages still needs a developer is its own answer.
GemPages rates 4.9 stars across about 4,300 reviews. On 9 October 2026 its listing showed no Built for Shopify badge, and neither did PageFly's or Shogun's (GemPages, PageFly and Shogun listings, October 2026). That badge means an app cannot slow a storefront "by more than 10 performance points" (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). So with any of the three, test page speed on your own pages.
GemPages leads its listing with GemAI, which turns "any image or URL into an editable layout": 300 sections on Build, unlimited on Optimize (Shopify App Store, October 2026). PageFly and Shogun list AI page generation too (PageFly and Shogun listings, October 2026), so AI is a difference of emphasis. GemPages' structural differences are two: post-purchase offers and a page type hosted outside Shopify.
What do GemPages' post-purchase offers add that PageFly and Shogun lack?
GemPages' post-purchase offers add a sales step between payment and the thank-you page that PageFly and Shogun lack. GemPages' Sales Funnel runs pre-sale and sales pages into Shopify's own checkout, then shows "up to two offers after payment is completed" before the thank-you page (GemPages Help Center, October 2026). GemPages sells it as a "One-Click Upsell System" with "No extra apps required!" (GemPages, October 2026). Whether that replaces an upsell app such as Rebuy is its own answer.
PageFly's "Sales funnel" is analytics: it tracks "sessions, product views, add to cart, checkout, purchase" (PageFly, October 2026), so it measures a funnel rather than selling into one. PageFly is moving into the cart instead, with "a cart drawer with upsells and bundles (beta)" (Shopify App Store, October 2026). Its listing also tags a "Thank you page upsell", which sits on the thank-you page, after the step GemPages sells (Shopify App Store, October 2026). Shogun's listing names no post-purchase feature (Shopify App Store, October 2026). Which builder wins funnel-style landing pages is compared separately.
What does GemPages' Instant Landing Page trade away for speed?
GemPages' Instant Landing Page (ILP) trades Shopify's admin and most of a store's apps for speed: it is a headless page type that GemPages hosts outside Shopify, while Shopify "still manages payment, Checkout, and Order information" (GemPages Help Center, October 2026). ILP comes with Optimize and higher, and GemPages pitches it for fast mobile pages. GemPages' own documentation names the costs:
- "The domain is hosted by ILP, not Shopify."
- "Pages created with ILP will not appear on the Shopify administrative dashboard."
- GemPages lists four apps that work on ILP pages, Yotpo Loyalty, Judge.me, Loox and Klaviyo, because "many apps do not support headless environments".
- GemPages Theme Sections are not supported on ILP pages (GemPages Help Center, October 2026).
Neither PageFly's pricing page nor Shogun's listing offers a page type hosted outside Shopify (PageFly; Shopify App Store, October 2026). So an ILP page is a speed play for paid traffic, and a page your operations team can't find in admin. Whether that rules GemPages out for a Plus store is its own answer.
What do GemPages, PageFly and Shogun cost?
GemPages costs $29 to $199 a month on its paid plans, Shogun $39 to $499 and PageFly $24 to $999 (GemPages listing, Shogun listing and PageFly pricing, October 2026). Deploi's GemPages vs. Shogun record scores GemPages BUY over Shogun for campaign pages, and GemPages is cheaper at every published tier (October 2026).
| Builder | Monthly plans (USD) | Billed yearly (USD) | Priced by |
|---|---|---|---|
| GemPages | Free; Build $29; Optimize $59; Enterprise $199 | Closed to new customers | Plan, plus a funnel commission on Optimize |
| PageFly | Free; Builder from $24; Optimize from $39; Accelerate $99; Power $199; Enterprise $299 to $999 | Accelerate $990; Power $1,990 | Page slots on Builder and Optimize, then features |
| Shogun | Draft Mode free, with no publishing; Build $39; Grow $199; Advanced $499 | $372, $1,908 or $4,788 | Published pages; A/B testing is a separate app |
| Replo | Free previews; Starter $119; Pro $599 | $1,188 or $5,988 | Published items and A/B testing sessions |
What does leaving GemPages cost?
Leaving GemPages costs you the pages, because they depend on GemPages' code in your theme. GemPages' Uninstall Safely feature strips that code out. Then "the status of all your GemPages templates will transition to Draft," and product or collection templates revert to Shopify's default (GemPages Help Center, October 2026).
GemPages' own advice is to downgrade to the Free plan instead of uninstalling. Live pages stay up, but with more than one published page, "re-publishing any of them will not be permitted" (GemPages Help Center, October 2026). So the cheap exit freezes GemPages pages rather than freeing them.
PageFly pages carry the same exit trap. Deploi's PageFly vs. GemPages record puts it plainly: "builder pages live in app structures and rebuild by hand at exit" (October 2026). What rebuilding a GemPages funnel program by hand costs is its own answer.
When is a plain page builder a better buy than GemPages?
A plain page builder is a better buy than GemPages when you would pay for GemPages' post-purchase offers and hosted landing pages and use neither.
Deploi’s point of view
Our own position, from building on Shopify. Kept apart from the sourced facts above.
- What we’ve seen
- The builder choice is almost never what determines whether a campaign page program works. What determines it is whether somebody owns the section library. Teams that save and reuse sections get compounding speed from any of these four. Teams that rebuild each campaign from a template get a slower theme and a page nobody can update in eighteen months.
- Where we disagree
- The category frames this as GemPages against PageFly against Shogun, because that is the comparison that converts affiliate traffic. The comparison that changes outcomes is builder against theme sections: one rents you speed and charges rent forever, the other costs more up front and leaves you owning Liquid your next agency can read.
- Where GemPages is the right answer
- a marketing team with no developer, a campaign cadence faster than any dev queue can serve, and post-purchase offers they want to run without buying a second app. That describes a lot of real mid-market teams, and for them the subscription is cheaper than the alternative by a wide margin.
Decision records behind this answer
When this answer changes
- GemPages changes its funnel commission, or which plans include Sales Funnels.
- PageFly or Shogun adds offers on Shopify's post-purchase page.
- GemPages' listing regains the Built for Shopify badge, or PageFly's or Shogun's earns it.
- GemPages reopens yearly billing, or takes the yearly prices off its pricing page.
- GemPages changes what Uninstall Safely does to live pages.
Follow-up questions
What's inside the number
- Does GemPages' funnel builder support upsell/cross-sell offers natively, or do I still need a separate app like Rebuy?
GemPages' funnel builder supports upsells natively only after payment, with up to two offers; its funnel has no cart step and leaves checkout to Shopify (GemPages Help Center, October 2026).
How it compares
- PageFly vs Shogun vs Replo vs GemPages: which one is actually best specifically for funnel-style landing pages?
Replo and GemPages lead the Shopify page builders on funnel-style landing pages, and only GemPages runs offers on Shopify's post-purchase page (GemPages docs, October 2026).
Common objections
- Can GemPages' funnel pages be built entirely without any developer involvement, or does the AI layer still need Liquid tweaks?
GemPages funnel pages need no developer until a page shows custom data or an app GemPages can't place without code.
- Is GemPages actually a good fit for a mid-market Plus store, or is it built mainly for small dropshipping funnels?
GemPages, a Shopify page builder, fits a single-storefront Plus brand, and it is not built mainly for dropshipping: its pricing page pitches the Enterprise plan at "Shopify Plus users" (GemPages pricing, October 2026).
What to do next
- What's the realistic agency cost to rebuild a GemPages-built funnel program into a hand-coded, faster-loading version?
A hand-coded rebuild of a GemPages funnel program has no published price benchmark, so Deploi quotes no dollar figure.
