What's the difference between Langify, LangShop, and Shopify's native translation tools in 2026?

Langify, LangShop and Shopify Translate & Adapt differ on one axis that matters: third-party app content. Native reaches 19 Shopify resource types and no further. Langify includes app translation from its $17.50 per month Basic tier, LangShop from its $40 Standard tier (App Store listings, September 2026). Native is free at every language count.

Read that table the right way

The free columns look generous and are. Langify's free tier gives you five languages of unlimited manual translation, which is more languages than Shopify's free machine translation covers. LangShop's free tier gives you one language and fifty products, which is a demo.

But the row that changes a mid-market decision is the second from the bottom. Native cannot see app content, by design, because the translation API reaches only the 19 types implementing HasPublishedTranslations (shopify.dev, September 2026). Both paid apps sell exactly that gap, and they sell it at different prices: $17.50 a month at Langify, $40 a month at LangShop. If app content is your problem, that is the whole comparison and the rest of the table is noise.

Where LangShop wins and Langify does not

Glossary rules. LangShop publishes 5, 100 and 250 glossary rules across its Basic, Standard and Advanced tiers, plus content exclusion rules at Advanced (App Store listing, September 2026). For a brand with protected product names, trademarks it must not translate, and an ingredient vocabulary it needs held constant across locales, that is a genuine capability neither of the other two publishes. Langify's listing advertises AI translation discounts and word allowances instead, which is a cost lever rather than a control lever.

Where native wins and neither app does

Price at scale in languages. Translate & Adapt does not meter languages, words or products. A brand at eight locales with a 4,000-SKU catalog pays nothing for the tool and pays only for the translation itself. Both paid apps price on languages, words or products, so that same brand is on LangShop's custom tier or Langify's Premium, and the fee grows with the catalog.

When NOT to use this table

When you have not confirmed which apps on your store expose translatable content. Two of the three columns above are only worth paying for in the app-content row, and you cannot evaluate that row in the abstract. Install Translate & Adapt, open it, and write down what is missing. That list is your requirements document.

The Deploi point of view

Our own position, from building on Shopify. Separate from the facts above.

  • Our take: Pick on reach and terminology control, not on translation quality or price. All three produce comparable machine output in 2026. Only two reach app content, and only one publishes glossary limits.
  • What we’ve seen: Merchants shortlist on the star rating and the monthly price, then discover eight weeks in that the tool cannot touch the review widget or the loyalty copy. The rating tells you about support responsiveness. It tells you nothing about reach.
  • Where we disagree: Comparison posts in this category rank these tools. Ranking them is the wrong operation, because they are not substitutes at the same price point. Native plus a $17.50 Langify tier is a normal and sensible end state for a mid-market brand, and no ranking produces it.
  • What this page adds: the actual published tier at which each paid app starts covering third-party app content, which is the specific number the parent says to go and find.
