Short answer
Commerce.com, formerly BigCommerce, reported gross merchandise volume (GMV) of $31,696 million for fiscal 2025, against $378,441 million for Shopify, according to each company's Form 10-K, so Shopify's was 11.9 times as large, computed by Deploi. Commerce.com counts GMV before refunds and Shopify after them, so the ratio compares scale only. Enterprise accounts rose to 6,648 in 2025 from 5,884.
BigCommerce's subscription ARR grew about 3% a year, to $272.4 million in 2025

What this means for your decision
- Judging BigCommerce's scale against Shopify? Commerce.com reported GMV of $31,696 million for fiscal 2025, and Shopify's $378,441 million was 11.9 times as large, computed by Deploi from each Form 10-K. Commerce.com counts GMV before refunds and Shopify after them, so read the ratio as scale, not an exact multiple.
- Judging whether BigCommerce is shrinking? GMV grew 12.3% and subscription ARR 3.0% in 2025, computed by Deploi, while HTTP Archive's count of BigCommerce sites fell 26.2% from January 2023 to 11,787 in September 2026. Sales and site counts measure different things, so read them together; neither alone settles whether the platform is viable.
- Weighing the enterprise base? Enterprise accounts rose to 6,648 at the end of 2025 from 5,884, after a fall in 2024, and average revenue per enterprise account was $43,200 in dollars, although the 10-K row says "(in thousands)". The series ends with fiscal 2025, so later filings will not show whether the rise held.
- Using the detected-sites gap? Shopify has 38 times as many detected sites, a far wider gap than on GMV. Origins are websites, not stores or sales, and headless builds are under-detected, so do not read the site ratio as a sales gap.

How large is BigCommerce's subscription business?
Commerce.com's subscription annual revenue run-rate (ARR) was $272.4 million at the end of fiscal 2025, up from $264.5 million in 2024 and $256.4 million in 2023, according to its Forms 10-K. Growth was 3.2% in 2024 and 3.0% in 2025, computed by Deploi. The company renamed itself Commerce.com in July 2025.
Subscription ARR is the annual revenue run-rate of subscriptions at year end, as the company's Form 10-K defines it. The filings report it in thousands of dollars ($272,411 thousand for 2025), and the chart shows millions.
How many sites run BigCommerce?
HTTP Archive detected BigCommerce on 11,787 mobile origins in its September 2026 crawl, down from 15,976 in January 2023, a 26.2% fall computed by Deploi. The count fell in every crawl shown: 15,218 in January 2024, 13,785 in 2025 and 13,126 in 2026. Origins are websites, not stores or accounts.
Only detected platforms are counted, and headless builds are under-detected, so the count is a floor for sites that use the platform's backend.
The January crawls are shown with the latest crawl; months in between are not shown.

- Counts are mobile origins, websites with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report, on which HTTP Archive detects BigCommerce; they are not counts of stores or accounts.
- For scale, HTTP Archive's Shopify count rose from 294,093 in January 2023 to 414,540 in January 2026 and 452,270 in September 2026.

How does BigCommerce compare with Shopify on detected sites?
Shopify was detected on 452,270 mobile origins in HTTP Archive's September 2026 crawl, 38 times BigCommerce's 11,787, computed by Deploi. In January 2023 the ratio was 18 times (294,093 against 15,976). Over that period Shopify's count rose 54% while BigCommerce's fell 26%, both computed by Deploi.
Shopify's counts are from the same HTTP Archive adoption API: 294,093 in January 2023, 414,540 in January 2026 and 452,270 in September 2026. They are shown on the WooCommerce and Shopify origins chart.
The detected-sites ratio of 38 times is much wider than the GMV ratio of 11.9 times, computed by Deploi. Origins count websites, not sales, so the two ratios measure different things.
Is BigCommerce's enterprise base growing?
BigCommerce reported 6,648 enterprise accounts at the end of fiscal 2025, up from 5,884 in 2024 and 5,994 in 2023, according to its Forms 10-K. Enterprise average revenue per account was $43,200 in 2025, $44,458 in 2024 and $40,891 in 2023. The count fell in 2024 and rose in 2025, the last year the company will report it.
The account counts come from the enterprise account metrics in the Forms 10-K. The rise from 5,884 to 6,648 accounts in 2025 is 13.0%, computed by Deploi.
The filings label the row "Average revenue per account (in thousands)". The enterprise ARR and account counts in the same filings show the figure is dollars per account, as the dataset caveat explains.
Commerce.com's Form 10-K for fiscal 2025 says it will not disclose enterprise account metrics from fiscal 2026, so the series ends with fiscal 2025.
How does BigCommerce's GMV compare with Shopify's?
Commerce.com's Form 10-K reports GMV of $31,696 million for fiscal 2025, up from $28,228 million in 2024, and Shopify's Form 10-K reports $378,441 million, so Shopify's GMV was 11.9 times as large, computed by Deploi. Commerce.com counts GMV gross, before refunds or discounts, and Shopify net of refunds; both include shipping and taxes, so the ratio compares scale only.
Commerce.com's GMV grew 12.3% in 2025, computed by Deploi, and the dataset holds GMV for 2024 and 2025 only.
Subscription ARR, $272.4 million at the end of 2025, is a revenue run-rate and does not compare with either company's GMV. Shopify's GMV is on the sales volume comparison page.

Methodology
Reading the chart: BigCommerce's subscription ARR grew about 3% a year, to $272.4 million in 2025
- Subscription ARR is the annual revenue run-rate of subscriptions at year end, as the company's Form 10-K defines it.
- Growth of about 3% a year (3.2% in 2024 and 3.0% in 2025) is computed by Deploi.
- The company renamed itself Commerce.com in July 2025.
- Values are reported in thousands of dollars and shown in millions.
Reading the chart: BigCommerce sites fell every year from 15,976 in January 2023 to 11,787 in September 2026
- The January crawls are shown with the latest crawl, September 2026; months in between are not shown.

Caveats: Commerce.com (BigCommerce) subscription ARR and detected origins, 2023 to 2026
- The company renamed itself Commerce.com in July 2025. The fiscal 2025 Form 10-K is filed under that name.
- Subscription ARR is the annual revenue run-rate of subscriptions at year end, as the Form 10-K defines it. The filings report thousands of dollars and the chart shows millions.
- Enterprise average revenue per account is in US dollars even though the field name keeps the K suffix; the column description shows how that was checked against the Form 10-K's enterprise account metrics.
- Origins are websites with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report, not stores or accounts, and headless builds are under-detected.
- Annual growth of ARR and the fall in origins on the story page are computed by Deploi as the later value divided by the earlier value, minus 1.
- Commerce.com's Form 10-K for fiscal 2025 says enterprise account metrics will no longer be disclosed beginning in fiscal year 2026, so the enterprise account series ends with fiscal 2025.
- Commerce.com reports GMV gross, before refunds or discounts, while Shopify reports GMV net of refunds; both include shipping and taxes, so the two compare in scale only.
