Short answer
Among the top 100,000 sites by Chrome traffic, Shopify origins rose from 872 in January 2022 to 1,830 in September 2026, while Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce, VTEX and SAP Commerce Cloud all fell, according to HTTP Archive's Tech Report. The counts show net change on each platform, not sites moving from one to another.

What this means for your decision
- Judging whether Shopify is a mainstream enterprise choice? Among the top 100,000 sites by Chrome traffic, Shopify rose from 872 origins in January 2022 to 1,830 in September 2026 while the five other platforms fell. Use it to show the direction on net; it does not show how many brands moved or where they came from.
- Building a case to leave Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud or SAP? Quote the endpoints with their crawl dates, such as Magento's fall from 1,230 to 739 origins in the top 100,000. The data tracks no individual site, so a fall can be sites that moved, closed, dropped in rank or went headless.
- Comparing leaders among the very largest sites? Of the six platforms tracked, Shopify leads the top 10,000 with 42 origins in September 2026, but Salesforce Commerce Cloud has 40. Read the top tier as a close race, not a settled lead.
- Counting stores or merchants? These are mobile origins with enough Chrome traffic to rank, detected by HTTP Archive, not stores or merchants. Headless builds are under-detected, so compare platforms on the same date rather than sizing migrations.

Did Shopify gain or lose large sites since 2022?
Shopify gained large sites between January 2022 and September 2026. HTTP Archive detected 872 Shopify origins in the top 100,000 in January 2022 and 1,830 in September 2026, while Magento fell from 1,230 to 739, Salesforce Commerce Cloud from 763 to 613 and SAP Commerce Cloud from 353 to 159.
WooCommerce fell from 545 to 302 and VTEX from 282 to 193 in the same tier. The rank tier control switches the chart between the top 10,000, the top 100,000 and the top 1 million sites; the default is the top 100,000.
Who leads among the top 10,000 sites?
Shopify leads the six platforms among the top 10,000 sites with 42 origins in September 2026, up from 12 in January 2022, according to HTTP Archive. Salesforce Commerce Cloud follows with 40, down from 75, then Magento with 29, SAP Commerce Cloud with 20, VTEX with 9 and WooCommerce with 7.
Counts in this tier are small, and a gap of two origins separates Shopify from Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Read the top 10,000 as a close race, not a settled lead. In January 2022 Salesforce Commerce Cloud had 75 origins against Shopify's 12.
Is the shift visible among the top 1 million sites?
Shopify had 47,956 origins among the top 1 million sites in September 2026, up from 28,933 in January 2022, and passed WooCommerce, which fell from 34,586 to 21,614, according to HTTP Archive's Tech Report. Magento fell from 15,423 to 7,957 in the same tier over the same period.
In January 2022 WooCommerce led Shopify in this tier. Salesforce Commerce Cloud went from 2,488 to 2,129, SAP Commerce Cloud from 1,353 to 678 and VTEX from 1,959 to 1,460.
Does this prove enterprises are replatforming to Shopify?
Net counts do not prove replatforming. HTTP Archive's September 2026 crawl shows Shopify with 1,830 origins in the top 100,000 and Magento with 739, but the data records no individual site moving between platforms. A platform can also lose origins when a site leaves the rank tier or runs headless, which detection under-counts.
The chart shows what each platform holds on two dates. A fall in Magento origins can come from sites that moved platform, sites that closed, sites that dropped in rank or sites that detection no longer sees.
What do the top 10,000, 100,000 and 1 million tiers mean?
The tiers are Chrome UX Report popularity tiers: the top 10,000, 100,000 and 1 million origins ranked by Chrome traffic. HTTP Archive's Tech Report adoption API counts the mobile origins detected with each platform in each tier, here for the January 2022 and September 2026 crawls, retrieved October 18, 2026.
Rank reflects visits in Chrome, not revenue or order volume. An origin is a website with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report. Counts are origins, not stores or merchants.
What does the data miss?
HTTP Archive counts only the platforms it detects, so headless builds that hide the platform are under-detected, and the six platforms here are not every enterprise option. The January 2022 and September 2026 figures are two crawls, and the data holds no crawl in between, so it shows the endpoints and not the path.
Each crawl detects technologies on the sites it visits, and detection rules can change between crawls. Use the counts to compare platforms on the same date and the direction of change, not to size migrations.

Methodology
Reading the chart: Of six platforms tracked, only Shopify grew among the top 100,000 sites since 2022, from 872 to 1,830 origins
- Gray dots are January 2022 and purple dots September 2026; only Shopify has its purple dot to the right of its gray dot.
- Counts are mobile origins, websites with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report, on which HTTP Archive detects the platform; they are not counts of stores or merchants.
- Rank tiers are Chrome UX Report popularity tiers: the top 10,000, 100,000 and 1 million origins by Chrome traffic.
- The chart shows net change on each platform, not individual sites moving from one platform to another.
- Only detected platforms are counted; headless builds are under-detected.
- Counts in the top 10,000 are small: in September 2026, 2 origins separate Shopify (42) from Salesforce Commerce Cloud (40).
Caveats: Ecommerce platforms among the top 10,000, 100,000 and 1 million sites, January 2022 and September 2026
- Counts are mobile origins, websites with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report, on which HTTP Archive detects the platform. They are not counts of stores or merchants.
- Rank tiers are Chrome UX Report popularity tiers by Chrome traffic. Rank is a traffic proxy, not revenue.
- The data shows net change on each platform between two crawls, not individual sites moving from one platform to another. Only detected platforms are counted, so headless builds are under-detected.
- Counts in the top 10,000 are small, so a few origins change a platform's position.

Questions
Is Shopify replacing Magento among large sites?
Among the top 100,000 sites, Magento origins fell from 1,230 in January 2022 to 739 in September 2026 while Shopify rose from 872 to 1,830, according to HTTP Archive. The data shows net counts, not individual sites moving from one platform to the other.
How many Shopify sites are in the top 100,000?
HTTP Archive detected 1,830 Shopify origins among the top 100,000 sites by Chrome traffic in September 2026, up from 872 in January 2022. These are mobile origins with enough Chrome traffic to be ranked, not stores or merchants.
Which platform leads the top 10,000 sites?
Shopify leads the six platforms in the top 10,000 with 42 origins in September 2026, according to HTTP Archive. Salesforce Commerce Cloud has 40, a gap of two origins, so the lead is narrow.
Does the data cover headless builds?
Only partly. HTTP Archive counts a platform when it detects it, so headless builds that hide the platform are under-detected. The counts in the top 100,000 for September 2026 understate sites whose storefront does not reveal the backend.
Are these counts of stores or merchants?
No. They are mobile origins, websites with enough Chrome traffic to appear in the Chrome UX Report, detected by HTTP Archive in its January 2022 and September 2026 crawls. A merchant can run several origins, and a store without enough traffic is not counted.
